The new Heathlands course at Alcaidesa attracted 78 golfers for the latest Med Golf tournament on Sunday 13th April, where the sponsors were Antico Mulino D’Oro.

Winning here was young Dan Kenyon, closely followed by Graham Berry and Tim Rickson, who were second and third, respectively. Dan not only won the engraved sponsor’s crystal trophy but also a weekend for two at the superb 5-star Montecastillio Golf & Spa Hotel at Jerez, arranged by Med Golf holidays. It was also a great effort by Tim, who has been knocking on the winner’s door recently, and he returned the best gross score of the day with a superb round of 75, as well as having the longest drive, the best gross score on the par 3s and, with playing partner Juan Antonio Roca, won the team prize. Both Tim and Graham received vouchers to spend in the pro shop and Graham was also the top senior, making it a good day all round for him. Maria Dello Stroligo won the ladies section and the Star Quality award went to Juan Antonio Roca.

Amongst the other prizes, Nearest the Pin winners were Wai To, Louis Calvente, Attilio Bertozzi, Robino Costi and Dan Kenyon.

EPI Iberia Med Golf Masters

The Top Ten in the Med Golf rankings at the end of July will receive an invitation to play in the EPI Iberia Med Golf Masters at Valderrama in September, as long as five tournament scores have been recorded. After the results for this event, there has been some movement in the top ten positions, with Simon Young and Roy Azopardi replacing John Dale and David Liu. Josh Jones still leads the way, and making up the top ten with him are John McHale, Chris Warren, Frank Samways, Rodney Sheriff, Nicky Sanchez, Alan Sene, Soren Valbro Jensen, Simon Young and Roy Azopardi.

There is still plenty of time to improve positions, with a further five qualifying competitions to be played before the end of July. In May there is the Gibraltar Casino trophy on the championship course at Montecastillio on the 4th, followed by the Louis Stagnetto trophy at Marbella Golf Club on the 1st June. As well as the sponsor’s crystal trophies, there are also weekends for two on offer at the Montecastillio Golf & Spa Hotel for the winners.
